2. In the Modem section of the dialog box, select from the Modem drop-down list,
the modem to use for connecting to the control panel.
3. Click Settings to display the Modem Settings dialog box, and define the dialing
and modem parameters.

4. To connect to the Amber Basic modem, the local software performs a Ring-Hang
up-Ring procedure:
Step 1: Ring – dials, waiting for 2-4 rings (in the Dialer field of the
Modem Settings dialog box enter value in Wait for 2-4 Rings During, see
Figure 7-5 above) and then disconnects the line.
Step 2: Hang up – waits for a period of time (in the Dialer field of the Modem
Settings dialog box enter value in Dialing for Connection, see Figure 7-5
above).
Step 3: Ring – dials to the unit for the second time. If the Ring-Hang up-Ring
procedure succeeds, then the modem session starts.
The Try to connect field defines the number of times the Ring-Hang up-Ring
procedure should be initiated. The Wait for 2-4 rings during field defines the
Ring steps duration as follows:
